In the industrial town of Piacenza in northern Italy, Giorgio
Armani was born on the 11th July 1934. After working as a freelance designer for a number of years, Giorgio Armani informed his own company along with his partner Sergio Galetti in 1975. As the Giorgio Armani brand continued to expand, a number of subsidiary companies were created in the early 1980's including the Emporio Armani brand, the aim being to appeal to wider audiences.
